Fusion Beat
Fusion Beat performs different musical styles such as Jazz, World Music, Latin and Funk. This group is located in Orlando, Florida. Their influences range from Puerto Rican, Afro‐Cuban, South American, New Orleans, Be‐Bop, European and different Jazz styles. Each one comes from many musical backgrounds and influences. Together, they blend and create a fresh sound in a sextet format. The group members are also available for workshops in Jazz, Latin, and Puerto Rican folkloric music.

DIMAS SANCHEZ (Drums, Percussion)
Dimas is a Pearl Percussionist Artist. His musical styles include; Jazz (American and Latin), Bomba and Plena (from Puerto Rico), Salsa, Samba, Bossa Nova, Blues, Rock, Afro-Cuban and World Music. He has studied with Tony Sanchez, Angel "Cachete" Maldonado, Keith Copeland, and Ignacio Berroa. He has accompanied and performed with artists and groups such as; David Sanchez , John Benitez, Richie Flores, Juancito Torres, Angel "Cachete" Maldonado, Anthony Carrillo, Edsel Gomez, "La Familia Cepeda", and Lucecita Benitez. Dimas has performed in the following international festivals ; Mundo Latino (Paris), SunFest (West Palm Beach), Clearwater Jazz Festival (with David Sanchez), Toros y Salsa ( France), Folkloric Festival (Palma de Mallorca, Spain), Cultural Festival (Guadeloupe). He also participated as a Drum Clinician and Pearl Drums Artist in the "Contemporary Drums and Percussion Summer Camp" (2008 and 2012 at University of Central Florida).
JOCHY RODRIGUEZ (Trumpet, Flugelhorn)
Jochy Rodriguez is a Professional trumpet player, composer, arranger and painter. He was trained at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in music and music education. He eventually became a professor of said institution and taught his unique improvisational method. He is a distinguished and exceptional player who can play different styles of music like Jazz, Latin, Brazilian, Salsa and others.
He has been in the music business for over 40 years and has played with figures such as Eddie Gomez, Claudio Roditi, Freddie Hubbard, and Arturo Sandoval. He has been a music professor for over two decades and provides musical lessons at all levels in different settings including online classes.
JORGE MALAVE (Saxophones)
Jorge was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At 8 years old, he began instruction under the tutelage of maestro Angel Marrero. Then he attended the "Escuela Libre de Musica" in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico where he continued his musical education. When he graduated in 1998, he auditioned for the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. He was accepted in the Department of Classical Saxophone. When he moved to Miami, Florida he studied at the Florida International University. His teachers, who are renowned Latin and Jazz performers themselves; Gary Campbell, Mike Orta, Nicky Orta and Charles Averhoff. In 2007 he returned to Puerto Rico to finish his studies at the "Conservatory of Music". He has performed with artists such as; Arturo Sandoval, Kevin Mahogany, Ingrid Jensen, Duffy Jackson, Paoli Mejias, Charlie Sepulveda, and Eddie Gomez
OMAR PERDOMO (Percussion)
Omar was born in the mid ‘70s in Santurce, Puerto Rico. As a third generation musician, music has been a part of Omar’s family for many years. Since the early ‘90s Omar has had the opportunity to perform with industry legends such as Cuco Valloy, Nacho Sanabria, Paquito Guzman. Luis Felipe Gonzalez, & Hector Tricoche. In 2005 Omar was the featured “congero” in Ray Barreto’s tribute with Tito Allen & Adalberto Santiago in Tampa, Fl. He’s also worked with various artists such as Luisito Rosario, Luisito Carion, Pedro Brull- form “la Mulenze”, Van Lester, Marlon, the late Tito Gomez, Jerry Galante, Cheo Andujar- form “Grupo Chaney”, Rafael De Jesus, & Danny Lozada- from ”Charanga Habanera”. Omar currently works as an independent musician, hosting clinics & workshops, enabling him to share his flavor & knowledge of percussion in different genres, with various groups & artists.
TONY CASTILLO (Piano, Keyboards)
Tony is a classically trained pianist. He studied Classical and Jazz piano at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1996, he won the "Outstanding Musician Award", and received several scholarships. Tony continued to develop his sound and recorded his first album as a soloist in 1999 called "Story Ave" for EarthQuake Records. In the same year, he was commissioned by Berklee College of Music to perform at the Heineken Jazz Festival in Puerto Rico, with greats such as Ralph Irizzary, Richie Flores, Cachete Maldonado, Pedro Guzman and Miguel Zenon. Tony’s career gained momentum as a sideman playing with Bob Moses, Giovanni Hidalgo, Eguie Castrillo,
Alex Alvear, (Cuban Bassist) Carlos de la Puente, Tony Lujan and Wayne Naus. Some of the great Merengue and Salsa artists he performed with are; Tito Nieves, Paquito Guzman, La India, La Banda Gorda, Raulin Rosendo, Sandy Reyes, Pete "El Conde" Rodriquez and Lalo Rodriquez. Tony also participated in percussion clinics in the Boston area with folkloric artist Jorge Arce.
MARCO BOJORQUEZ (Bass)
Marco Bojorquez, electric & double bassist, arranger, and composer, has worked and played in the Central Florida area for the past 10 years. As a sideman, he has been fortunate enough to play with some of the area's top artists and musicians.
Marco also leads and arranges for his own group, "Cubop!" which is a retro, 1950s afro-cuban jazz ensemble, paying homage to the era where Bebop Jazz and Afro Cuban rhythms began to fuse. This combining of genres would ultimately become what we now know as Latin Jazz.
As a composer, Marco writes and arranges for the working quintet known as "RoBoTm@n". Growing in fan base due to the accessibility of the bands original modern jazz compositions, this group continues to maintain a busy schedule playing numerous venues throughout the state of Florida. Now he is playing with Fusion Beat.
